Rain’s Interview with Popseoul! [Edited]

The Popseoul! Interview

Please watch it and never again tell me that Rain’s English is better than mine. Popseoul! sounded harsh in their review of the interview but after listening to it I realized that not only is Rain’s English is not great but he  also seems so out of it. He asked Popseoul! if they’d seen the movie…. dude, how could he not know that the world wide release is next week…

Anyway, I completely called it about Rain going onto Colbert, but that was a long time coming. I like that Rain’s going to be on Colbert, because I do think Rain’s talented and I LOVE Colbert but my only problem is that Rain’s going on for an interview… I don’t know if that’s the best idea seeing as he had to conduct most of the Popseoul! interview in Korean.

I just want to thank Popseoul! for their interview. We finally get to see that one sentence of English in a trailer is not the perfect English speaker prove.

What do you think of this?

Hee Chul and his Nose *sigh*

Posted in Uncategorized on April 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

EDIT: Just realized that when you search “‘Hee Chul’ Nose Job”, the first page of results is linked to that post I wrote. And I’m so badly misquoted it’s frustrating.

I was misquoted over on Asianfanatics and the soompi forums and the comments there, near the tail end, all basically say: this is untrue, this was originally posted by Popseoul! and they hate SuJu, NYCST is another blog to the add to the ignore list etc. etc.

My final say on the matter is this: I got this news from Soompi. Hee Chul on his minihompy even explained his falling down (and for some reason decided to take pictures of his bleeding nose (is this evidence or something?) There has been no mention of Hee Chul getting plastic surgery to fix his nose. I hate to spread rumors so I don’t want people to be misled by my other post. Hee Chul has not confirmed getting rhinoplasty it just seemed like he did because his nose looks rather different. (Which would be the result of….)

I hate having to backtrack on what I say on this blog. It’s actually alarming when I have to. I really don’t want random people to get worked up about something I wrote in between eating breakfast and filming something for homework.

But I want to say sorry, I think an E.L.F. has died somewhere because of my previous post. I apologize, now everyone quick, before more ELF’s die–”I do believe in ELFs! I do! I do!”

DBSK on Antama

yuyukj

… The most amusing (though a tad saddening) thing about this video is the fact that their are two random black guys in the background “dancing” and the guys are dancing to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love… This is ridiculous.

Some Like it Hot

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on April 18, 2008 by illdielaughing

Movie was enjoyable but not much of a departure from the glossy romantic-comedies that we usually see.

Some Like it Hot was enjoyable, I laughed out loud a couple of times but there was a lot missing.

Hee Chul: Do we like the nose?

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17, 2008 by illdielaughing

Hee Chul is sort of like Madonna, they are both, in their own ways, queens of reinvention. What better way to accompany a new nose than with a beard and a hairstyle fashioned after Death Note’s L?

Hee Chul kinda looks strung out on drugs. A little… Maybe it’s just the morphine for the pain?

Hee Chul pre Rhinoplasty:

This a big change guys… HUGE. Hee Chul has… become a male. *tear*

On Air is On in America Too!

Posted in Uncategorized on April 17, 2008 by illdielaughing

I love this, I just flipped to The Korean Channel to see what might be on and it was…ON AIR!!!! I was flabbergasted. Once again my mother gave me looks of confusion (and maybe slight shame?) as I laughed giddily at my find. So I watched On Air with subtitles…on a television. What a breath of fresh air.

By the way, there’s a show on Imaginasian called Tracking Your Ex-Boyfriend. Yes! Bad reality TV from all countries… I shall be tuning in (it’s subbed!).

“Stop Showing Off” (says Rain to Emile)

Posted in Uncategorized on April 15, 2008 by illdielaughing

Rain has his 2.5 seconds in the Speed Racer International trailer. From the extent to which he opens his mouth,  I can tell that he’s trying really hard to enunciate and speak English properly. What a fraud. No I’m kidding, I’m actually hoping to go to the New York premiere of this movie (it’s closing Tribeca Film Festival) and I’m pretty excited to see it (even though the CGI already makes me cringe). What do you think of Rain’s Engl(r)ish?

Get Your Asian Drama Fix on American Television

Posted in NYC, Seoul, TV, ^_^ with tags , on April 15, 2008 by illdielaughing

If you have WMBC (channel 63 for those of you in New York with Time Warner Cable) then you can watch Likeable or Not weekdays at 9:10 eastern time. (WMBC plays a lot of foreign stuff from China, Korea, Jamaica etc.) I was just flipping through channels when I noticed the title Likeable or Not. Imagine my surprise when I see Han Ji Hye’s face on my screen. I actually started laughing aloud because I thought it was so funny. It’s English subbed! Something about actually watching a Korean drama on television reminds me of how cheaply made and kind of bad they are. Not all of them of course, their are some awesome Korean dramas, but Likeable or Not is not one of them.

Oh My God. In the middle of writing this I have discovered that I have a whole Korean channel and it’s free with basic cable. The channel is called Media Korea (channel 532 if you have Time Warner Cable in NYC). And what’s even better? Bad Love is on too. It’s on at 2am though. OH MY GOD, in the middle of writing this paragraph I have discovered yet another Korean channel. I have TWO Korean channels. And Unstoppable Marriage is playing too. Haha I don’t know why I find this funny. I think it’s just because I had NO idea. I knew I had the Indian channel. I watched a few of those dramas too. Oh I miss the summer when I had nothing to do.

Anyway, if you live in NYC and have Time Warner Cable the channels are:

Media Korea (MKTV)- 532- Happy Together, Likeable or Not and Hong Gil Dong (Yes, THAT Hong Gil Dong). Drama City is on this channel as well, 6:30 this friday.
WMBC- 63- Likeable or not.
Imaginasian TV- 560 (don’t you just live the name of the station) It Started with a Kiss is playing at 8pm on Thursdays.
The Korean Channel (TKCTV)- 531- Surgeon Bong Dal Hee, Unstoppable Wedding, X-Man(!!!)

(I was going to title this post “Likeable or Not on American Television” but then I discovered the plethora of Koreanness that I have not been enjoying. Woo hoo!)

(Any other New Yorkers that knew about this years ago?)

Rain is Starting to Sound Like Kanye West

Posted in Uncategorized on April 14, 2008 by illdielaughing

Not completely, Kanye West is at a whole other level of self-obsession. The similarity between Rain and Kanye is this: Rain and Kanye have these ridiculous aspirations to be the world’s biggest star. I’m not saying it’s impossible but to constantly say things like, “I’m gonna be the world’s biggest star” or “I want to become the worlds best actor” is kind of tiring.

Rain:Actors playing the role also have to experience restrictions on their outward appearance. In actuality an Asian’s single-eye-lid appearance is considered very essential in the eyes of the Westerners. However, outside of the appearance alone, if one does not have his/her own unique charm, it wouldn’t work either. By diligently paying attention to these kinds of details, one can eliminate the restriction that Hollywood has on Asian entertainers, thus paving a brand new direction for Asia. Until the day when this restriction is eliminated, I will work hard continuously and become the world’s best actor.”

Big Bang Learns to Recycle

Posted in Uncategorized on April 12, 2008 by illdielaughing

They’ve learned to recycle their music… for Japan.

Big Bang has their second Mini Album coming out in Japan on May 25th. It’s disappointing because it’s simply a repackaging of some of their older songs. The album has one Japanese song on it. I don’t think that YG is dedicating enough to Big Bang’s work in Japan at all. If they really want to break into the market they should stay in Japan for an extended period of time, learn the language, record a bloody song in Japanese.

Tae Yang does the only Japanese song on the album, “My Girl” (which is another recycled song). The title song is “With U” which is also the name of the mini album.

I really like Big Bang, but please start doing things that make sense.
