“Don’t You EVER Insult Hyori!” (This is a useless post)

Posted in Crazy People, Rant with tags , on March 7, 2008 by illdielaughing

SHUT UP.

leeHyori TOPGIRL

I swear I’ve gotten so many ridiculous comments about Lee Hyori, Kim Ah Joong and whoever else I might have insulted about being untalented.  But the Hyori lovers are definitely the most ridiculous. They go from threatening peoples lives to saying “Fuck you asshole!!!” to giving long essays about why “Hyori is great!”.

200poundsbeautyra8.jpg

At least when people defend Kim Ah Joong they don’t make ridiculous threats on peoples live or use a ridiculous amount of exclamation points. I do point out Kim Ah Joong’s plastic surgery a lot but that isn’t why I think she’s a bad actress. I just think she’s a bad actress. And I think that her extensive plastic surgery is really distracting but the two are in no way related. There are actresses that I like that have gotten plastic surgery like Uhm Jung Hwa and Han Chae Young, I also have friends that can’t stand either of them, but I don’t ever threaten there lives or use 5 exclamations points at the end of my sentences when I talk to them.

I say this all to say that I am really curious about all these crazy people that comment on my blog. Not the ones that sanely disagree with me but the ones with the excessive punctuation and homicidal disposition.

Giordana Completely Steals from the “I am African” Campaign

Posted in NYC, Rant, Seoul on February 12, 2008 by illdielaughing

So… What am I talking about? Well, if you walked around the city a few months ago you would see posters like these:

paltrow_i_am_african_sm.jpgiamafrican.jpg

The “I AM AFRICAN” campaign was a way to help keep children alive who were suffering from or affected by the AIDS epidemic.  A great cause and, in my humble opinion, a great campaign concept.

Now moving on to Giordano. They used Jang Dong Gun (for the millionth time) and Jung Ryu Won for there spring ad campaign. And what did they do? What was their concept? Um,*cough* well that is COMPLETELY bit off of the “I AM AFRICAN” campaign.

20080212giordano11.jpg

Wow, this is COMPLETELY unoriginal. I understand being influenced by something else but it is obvious that Giordano knows they’re stealing from the “I AM AFRICAN” campaign and doesn’t care. I’d have to say this is Giordano’s most unfortunate ad campaign that I’ve seen so far. The pictures are nice but the face paint makes no sense in the context of clothing and…they stole their campaign idea. Gah, how frustrating. I saw this over at Popseoul! and they apparently didn’t realize that this was just a complete rip-off, they squealed about feeling “spring-y inside”.

. . .

Seriously.

On another note. I love Jang Dong Gun, and I like Jung Ryu Won and besides the plagiarism I do like the ad campaign. But that’s probably because I loved the “I AM AFRICAN” campaign. When you think about it though, the AFRICAN campaign is so much more deep and important than any ad campaign Giordano will ever do. So to steal from them is kinda… stupid. It’s so frustrating that most of the Korean population will have no idea that this idea is completely unoriginal. This must be how some Japanese feel about the numerous American’s that have no idea that The Ring is a remake.

Koda Kumi, you shouldn’t have had to apology in the first place. . .

Posted in Rant, Tokyo with tags on February 10, 2008 by illdielaughing

So everyone knows about Koda Kumi’s silly comment about women’s fluids after they turn 35, right? Well, there was an uproar with so many people upset at her “insensitivity”. Oh God, do these people really have nothing else to care about except some innocent scientifically accurate comment a singer makes? I thought it wouldn’t end up being anything when I heard about it so I never posted. I really didn’t find it that interesting or important. But the fact that she had to give a tearful apology was just ridiculous. So much so that I just had to rant about how ridiculous it is.

From Tokyograph:

On Thursday, Kumi Koda appeared in an exclusive interview on Fuji TV’s “FNN Super News” to apologize for a remark she made on “All Night Nippon” last week. She had stated that “when women turn 35, their amniotic fluid goes rotten,” leading to many angry reactions from the public.

It’s like the people reacting negatively to this feel as if Koda spilled the beans about something. “Oh no! The world will know about my amniotic fluid! Damn you Koda Kumi!” Give it a rest.

Not everyone was convinced, however. An informal poll taken after the broadcast through Sankei Sports’ website indicated that 81% of the viewers felt the apology was insufficient, while only 9% said it was enough. Fuji TV later announced that by midnight on Thursday, it had received almost 300 phone calls about the broadcast. About a third of them carried heavy criticism, such as saying that Koda’s apology felt insincere. Only 9 of the callers defended the singer.

People actually called to complain… That’s just another level of sad states of minds. Couldn’t they just quietly simmer in their unneccesaary anger? To waste so many people’s time is just ridiculous. I think it’s even silly that 9 people just called to say they were happy with her apology. Who cares? Go eat some food and get drunk instead of hanging on every word that she says. I just can’t imagine that so many people have so little to do. I’m thinking that it has to be sad housewives with no children or grown children that actually have nothing better to do or think about.

Koda Kumi shouldn’t be crying because she is still number one on Oricon. She really should be having the last laugh.

Anyway, this is just another sad example of how the world is obsessed, in a rather depressing way, with celebrity. As Tears for Fears would say, “It’s a very very Mad World”.

GIVE IT A REST!

Once again, the E.L.F.’s were out in the freezing below zero weather to protest the addition of Henry or anyone to Super Junior. 700 obsessed girls sat outside of SM Entertainment with their silly signs and a lack of sanity. My friend summed up why they did it rather well. “To them adding someone else to Super Junior is like adding another book to the Bible.” I get it now. There would be so many protests about that. But let’s put things into perspective here. Idol group vs. A book that is the basis of a religion that millions of people believe in. Hmm. Well, I can’t say that I sympathize with the E.L.F.’s who, by the way, want an apology from SM for causing mental damage. Are you friggin’ kidding me?

What Little Korean Girls Should Look Like: Girl’s Generation

Posted in Rant, Seoul with tags on January 11, 2008 by illdielaughing

Girls’ Generation limited edition dolls are finally on sale and I’m sure they’ll be flying off of the shelves.girlsgeneration-200801111-popseoul.jpg Picture Credit: popseoul!

I have a problem with these dolls, not because I don’t like Girl’s Generation, but because all quite a few of Girl’s Generation, who’s supposed to represent young girls, has had some kind of plastic surgery. So, I mean, being dolls is somewhat typical but it still gives girls a skewed image of what real beauty is.

It’s in the same vein as those “bratz” dolls. I can’t stand them. Calling a doll, to be marketed to already bratty children, “bratz” is just condoning the behavior of spoiled children everywhere. Obviously, I don’t think that having a bratz doll will magically turn you’re child into a brat but the whole marketing of the dolls–and the movie–is really unsettling. I feel strongly about this especially because I have a younger sister I really don’t want her getting the idea that being a “brat” is cute or reasonable behavior.

But then again, am I reading too much into this?

Hilary Clinton: Tearjerker.

Posted in NYC, Rant on January 8, 2008 by illdielaughing

This will not be a long post, but I feel compelled to write something.

If you watch the news, you may have heard about Hilary Clinton’s teary response to the question, “How do you do it? How do you stay so upbeat?” or something to that affect. Hilary Clinton said (among other things): ”I have so many oppurtunities from this country, I just don’t want to see us fall backwards.” Hilary continued to answer, her eyes welling up in a moment that, to me, seemed very sincere and human. So, of course, there is speculation that the question was staged and that Hilary was faking her emotion.

No Golden Globes this Year

Posted in NYC, Rant, TV, WTF? on January 8, 2008 by illdielaughing

Due to the writers strike and the producers insistance on being cheap asses, the Golden Globes has been canceled and will be replaced by a news conference where they announce the winners.

 goldenglobe.jpg

What. The. Hell. I’m soooo disappointed. I look forward to the award shows not just for the red carpet or for the glitz and glamor of it but for the acceptance speeches and the recognition of great talent. And now the ceremony is being reduced to a freaking news broadcast? I don’t blame the writers at all for striking. They deserve more money and recognition for all the work they do. It’s the producers that are the problem and they have always been the problem in most aspects of Hollywood. But after a month+ of crappy television I’m getting really sick of the producers not budging. And now the Golden Globes aren’t airing… I hope and pray that by the time the Oscars are meant to air on February ninth that the writers strike will be resolved and television will return in all it’s glory.

Seungri, Did You REALLY Say That? Aigoo…

Posted in Rant with tags on January 2, 2008 by illdielaughing

So, I was all in the middle of my Big Bang fangirly-ness when I heard about a rather…well…racist comment Seungri made on a radio program in January of this year.

seungri3vb4wg8.jpg

Basically what happened was he was talking about when Big Bang was in America. They were outside of an airport and Seungri wanted to change, so he gets into this van and changes. Unfortunately, the van he entered was not theirs. When he gets out of the van, the owner starts yelling at him and Seungri says sorry and what not. And then, on the radio show, he says that he was happy the guy was Caucasian and not African-American because he might have gotten shot. WOW. I was so disappointed by that and I was so hoping it wasn’t true but it is. I was seriously on a Big Bang high earlier today, singing Lies and Last Farewell, watching random shows with them on it…. and then this. I’m really offended, I can’t believe he actually thought that was appropriate to say on the air.
