SHINee Gettin’ Hood at the SM Showcase

I find this performance kind of funny because SHINee is trying to act really down but their name SHINee and their general uppity-ness defies the said down-ness they are trying to achieve.

Minho and Jong Hyun’s pants were WAY too tight though and Ohn Yu’s were bordering on MC Hammer status. The Key/Tae Min moments where they interacted with each other were borderline lame. These guys are really good dancers but they need to feel it more than pretend to feel it. I know I sound like I’m being hard on them but if you’ve seen other dancers dancing the styles that their moves are derived from (hip-hop, lyrical hip-hop, krump etc) then you know that they can hit it harder. But that aside, these guys seemed to have given it their all and they are adorable.

America’s Best Dance Crew Season 2

Oh My.

At first I didn’t think anyone would be as good as Kaba Modern or JabbawockeeZ but all of the crews (except SassX7 and Extreme Dance Force, I don’t know why Distorted X left!) are great. I was really impartial toward Kaba and Jabba in the first season of ABDC. But now, in season 2, I like almost all the crews, but here are four that stood out to me.

Tap Dancers RULE!

Posted in Dance, NYC, ^_^ on December 9, 2007 by illdielaughing

I was minding my own business, leaving Uhall last night and I went into the Union Square train station. I was walking to the NQRW trains when I heard the sounds of drums and metal on wood. Then I saw a group of people nodding to the beat (some so off) and then I saw the splendor that was three Japanese people, two tap dancing and one playing the drums. I usually don’t stand and watch performers on the subway but these guys were so good. (See, there is more in my brain than pop culture and fangirl fluff).

The people I saw tap dancing were: the girl in the middle,Shoko and the guy on the far right making that ridiculously attractive face, Yuki ( I think…) And the guy I saw playing the drum was Kazumoto.

I haven’t found any videos that do these guys justice but here are a couple.

Shoko tap dancing… (the drummer I saw was the guy on the right in this vid.)

Now here’s Yuki (if that’s his name). He doesn’t move his body alot but his feet are so intense with all the fast movements they (he?) do (does??).

Am I crazy or are these guys really good? And if there are any mistakes here (ahem like the guys name, please correct me if you know!)
This is their website… If you are in the NYC area they post when they are going to perform on their horrible uninformative website. (It’s uninformative because I can not correctly discern that guys name and ahlf of it is in japanese T_T!)
