“Hug A Korean” Day was on February 6th. I hadn’t heard about this until 2 minutes ago and the first thing I did was think, “I must alert the world” AKA the 15 people who read my blog and so here I am.
So, okay, it’s not an official event. But to all the Koreans that read this blog, accept my belated cyber hug!

Said Jang Dong Gun of being appointed as an ambassador for the UN’s World Food Program. I’m just really happy that a picture hasn’t surfaced of Jang Dong Gun looking at Bill Clinton with glassy, childlike eyes. I can’t tell you how annoyed I get when I see people like Yoon Eun Hye and Koda Kumi looking WAY too happy to just be in the presence of western stars. I just want them to chill out and hold their own. You’re famous too, guys!
Anyway, Jang Dong Gun is especially happy about this appointment because, with family born in North Korea, he is very concerned with the malnutrition issues there. Jang, like any other Good Will Ambassador had many interesting statistics to throw out concerning their issue: apparently, of the 850 million victims of famine in the world 500 million of them are Asian and 6 million are on the cusps of starvation.

Kim Ha Neul was in Italy for 6 days filming On Style: Kim Ha-neul’s Travel Diary in Italy.
While there, she was stopped by the host of a show on the free-to-air channel La Sete. He said that she fits in with the city of Firenze. After learning that she was a famous Korean actress he conducted a formal interview in which he asked about her fashion do’s and don’ts and her opinion on Italy. I don’t think many people watch La Sete, I think it’s pretty much the equivalent on New York’s MNN. But if you have a cable dish, you may be able to pick up La Sete because free-to-air channels are completely free and don’t need to be included in a cable plan.
Anyway, the idea of seeing Kim Ha Neul on Italian television, no matter what channel is pretty exciting. I guess it makes me feel like the world is getting smaller.
Paris Hilton was in Koreatown tonight. Leaving a restaurant and/or Karaoke bar at around midnight tonight. I went to this restaurant (in Ktown) with my friends and another one of our friends came to meet us and he said he saw Paris Hilton driving down in an Escalade. We laughed it off but then we went to get to a supermarket in Ktown for ice cream. We saw this crowd in front of the restaurant/karaoke place and we asked why they were there. This guy told me. “Paris Hilton”. Then I said a bit too loudly, “I don’t really like her that much”, after which the women to my right started laughing her ass off.
My friends and I then left, got our ice cream and when we came back out Paris was exiting the restaurant/karaoke place. There were like 4 actual paparazzi there. and about 10 or 12 regular people.
What do I have to show for this encounter? Not much. I didn’t think to take a picture of her, but one of my friends did with his phone, he sent it to my phone but it’s horrible quality. When I figure out how to get it off my phone and onto the computer I’ll post the crappy picture for you guys to see.
(P.S. after seeing Paris Hilton in the flesh, I must say she’s shorter than I thought, not as pretty as I thought, though she is pretty, and about 10 times more full of herself than I ever imagined a person would be. She had such an air of arrogance. But this was just my perception, I’m not trying to trash talk.)
Mariah Carey was at the Tokyo Dome today to throw the first pitch before the baseball game between the Yomiuri Giants and the Rakuten Eagles.
In case you didn’t know, she married Nick Cannon a couple of weeks ago. I laughed forever, in fact I’m still laughing. I’m laughing so much I hardly have time to feel bad about laughing….I also laugh at Mariah Carey for refusing to where flats. In a couple of decades she is not going to be able to walk…. And I will still be laughing. I only stop laughing when I listen to her sing (the early stuff, not the “Touch my Body” nonsense).
