Big Bang on Music Core

Posted in Music, Seoul with tags on August 31, 2008 by illdielaughing

I hadn’t seen a Big Bang performance in a while (I’ve been avoiding them a bit these days) and seeing them on Music Core reminds how obnoxious those stupid chants the fans do are. To be fair, they did stop while they were singing, which is a rarity.

Anyway, I like Haru Haru but I find the whole GD against TOP thing so impossible to digest because…well TOP could eat GD for breakfast and still be hungry. And I’m sure everytime TOP pushes GD in the head with his finger GD is thinking, Oh no, here it comes again. I also don’t think that Haru Haru is oh-my-god-the-most-bestest-song-by-Big-Bang-ever so I don’t get too excited when I see them perform this. My lack of excitement could also stem from the sucky ass dance they do. I haven’t heard anyone applaud the lack luster choreography and I don’t expect them too, it sucks. Come back, Shaun Evaristo! And for that matter, come back, Big Bang!

Anyway, these are my thoughts on the performance:

  • TOP should really reconsider those gloves.
  • TOP has such a nice flow when he raps, he gets a bit scary sometimes but he’s pretty sick (sick as in good -_-).
  • I’m proud of DaeSung for not wearing a white shirt. He knows the rest of his group looks horrible.
  • The choreography must be one long drawn out prank on Big Bang. Like, “Haha, look at the crappy dancing we made you do for weeks on end!”
  • The choreography could also be some kind of social experiment. Like, “Hey, do boring dances moves and your fans will love it!”
  • GD’s dramatic pivot was pretty excellent.
  • Tae Yang… are you there? We miss you. (Mostly for you meandering about without your shirt on but we need you to improve on this situation none-the-less.
  • And Lastly, this song’s performance is the kind that makes me wonder, “Are the guys in Big Bang great performers or big drama queens?”
  • I really wish that GD would not rub/kiss his lips at the end and put those fingers forward. It’s disturbing.
Overall, I’m a still disappointed. I’m already waiting for Big Bang’s next album.
…Man, reading over this, I sound like such a hater… haha :)

“Attack the Gas Station!” Sequel

Posted in ^_^ with tags , , , on August 30, 2008 by illdielaughing

Wha-Wha-WHAT?

Unless Lee Seong Jae, Yoo Oh Seong, Yoo Ji Tae, Kim Soo Ro and Kang Seong Jin are in this film….I have no hopes for it. But I’ll be fair and watch it when it is eventually released.

The film isn’t even done with it’s script and they’re pegging it for a 2009 release, to coincide with the ten year anniversary of the original Attack the Gas Station! I’m very interested in what kind of sequel this is going to be. Will it just be another group of misfits taking over a gas station or will it literally pick up right where the 1999 original left off, the guys riding off in their stolen convertible?

Either way, I hope the movie is good, but if it’s not I can always go back and watch the original.

“10 out of 10″ Lyrics

The lyrics make me like it more. This song is so funny, I particularly liked “her appearance from behind distresses a person”. How can you not think that’s hilarious? Especially accompanied with two of the members sticking their asses out for the camera.

Okay maybe I just have a broad sense of humor? I did go see The House Bunny tonight and though it was stupid but hilarious. Like The House Bunny don’t go into this mv looking for meaning or whatever that stuff is called…

2pm…

The MV… was hilarious.

I know some of you youngens think it’s inappropriate but I thought it was great. It’s about time these idol stars stop acting like they’re asexual and start acting like human beings. Not that all guys have to be sexual to prove that but what a relief to see some guy-on-girl contact here. And the song is so funny, I would destroy this in karaoke. Once again, though, JYP is giving us a group with music that isn’t meant to be “good” per se but meant to be popular.

I like that JYP didn’t base the group on their looks, none of them are pretty boys and none of them are drop dead gorgeous, but they shouldn’t have to be. (I say that now…) But seriously I think JYP is trying, with One Day or 2 O’clock, to get to the point where talent is the most important thing. Like I said earlier, this song isn’t really a showcase of musical talent but it’s so funny.

To be perfectly honest, I don’t actually like 2pm but they are certainly entertaining. They’re good dancers, they can do back flips and stuff but they didn’t really sing in this song (in the vein of Wonder Girls). Depending on how they are live and their turn on variety shows I think people will start warming up to 2pm.

This the best debut when compared to their counterpart 2am and U-kiss (wtf do they think they’re doing?). But, I’m sure that I’ll change my mind after the first few performances on the gayo shows, but for now… they make me laugh and that’s good enough.

The title says it all.

Other things I like:
Tae Min singing
Taemin’s hair
Key, in general.
The good dance moves they pull out in this music video, (they don’t include bending over).

Yay, I think I really like SHINee now. My friends at college don’t so much cause that hate that we’re all nunas in their Nuna Nomu Yeppeo song. But they do love “In My Room”, with good reason, that song is smexy and awesome.

Anyway, I hope SHINee’s album is good. I’m worried about them pretending their pop music is “contemporary r&b”.

Haru Haru part II and 2pm

Eh.

I don’t think the second one is such a hot idea. Having a group called 2am and then coming out with a group  called 2pm is rather…the only word that fits, honestly, is LAME.

First of all it has seven members. Then, for goodness sake, what are they wearing? (I honestly can’t stand all the boybands that are dressing like crap to “make a statement”. Like G-Dragon for example, I love him, I want him to take me shopping, but AFTER he comes back to his senses and stops dressing like a St. Marks reject piece of turd.) Read more »

Mnet 20s Choice Awards

Posted in Seoul, TV, ^_^ with tags , , on August 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

You’ve been hearing bad reviews of the Mnet 20s Choice Awards, and it doesn’t get much better here. Except since I didn’t watch all of it, I won’t say whether it was good or bad. I can only share my experience with the bit that I watched.

The first thing I watched was JunJin and Wondergirls. I shouldn’t have. I really shouldn’t have. Jun Jin singing over Sexyback was bad, The Wonder Girls coming out in shimmery robes trying to mimic Victoria’s Secret models was BAD. But what was really bad was their performance of So Hot. All they have to do is whine and moan into the mic, but somehow they messed it up. But none so bad as Ahn Sohee. It seems my dislike for her will never end, and I am truly sorry. But this girl cannot sing for her life, just listen.

After watching that I decided that I wasn’t going to suffer through the rest. So my review of the show ends here. Okay, maybe, I’ll end up watching it, but it’s been covered enough already.

((By the way, I have been slacking so badly with this site. I’m going to make more of an effort to post at least once everyday, so be patient with me!))

Happy Birthday Kim Kibum!

Posted in ^_^ on August 21, 2008 by illdielaughing

One of Super Juniors few respectable members, Kim Kibum, most famous for being in Super Junior  and for acting in dramas, April Kiss and Snow Flower, is celebrating his 21st birthday today.

The rogue member of Super Junior, who vowed (wisely) to never be in a sub-group has refuted rumors that he is leaving Super Junior. I don’t know what’s next for Ki Bum, but I’m anxious to see, for now I give you:

Kibum holding a petrified tiger

and Kibum on Loveleter

It’s honestly so difficult to find a picture of Kibum in which he looks older or that doesn’t include Kim Heechul.

RIP Lee Eon

Posted in Obituary with tags , , on August 20, 2008 by illdielaughing

Lee Eon, most famous, at least for me, for his role as the cute thug in love with Eun Chan’s little sister in Coffee Prince died in a motorcycle accident.

He was riding his motorcycle and crashed into a guard rail on an overpass.

I’m saddened and also frustrated with the news of Lee Eon’s death. He was only 27 years-old and his entire career was in front of him. (He last appeared in Strongest Chil Woo with Eric Mun)

His death, the death of Monday Kiz member (also of a motorcycle accident) and the plethora of car accidents involving entertainers should really get people asking, why is it so unsafe to drive in Seoul?

When entertainers get into traffic accidents with their managers and drivers, is it bad traffic laws, excessive drinking or the intense schedules that entertainers have? Members of Super Junior almost died in a car accident, half of the duo CLON was paralyzed in an accident… When it comes to Lee Eon’s death, however, and the death of Monday Kiz member, Kim Min Soo, accidents that happened when they were under the charge of no one but themselves, is it telling of a greater problems?
