Arashi’s Nino and NewS’s Ryo in “Ryusei no Kizuna”

The drama adaptation of Keigo Higashino’s novel Ryusei no Kizuna is set to air this fall with Johnny’s boys Kazunari Ninomya (Letters From Iwo Jima), Erika Toda (MisaMisa from Death Note) and Nishikido Ryo (Attention Please!) taking the roles of siblings.

(Is anyone else frightened by the control of Johnny’s Entertainment in Japan?) The story is about three orphan siblings, two boys (the older played by Kazunari Ninomiya) and one girl (played by Erika Toda), that become a team of Robin Hood wannabes that steal money from the rich. Their parents were murdered when they were younger and their formative years were filled with deception and lies so they have sworn to avenge the death of their parents. One day the two brothers have found the murderers, but they find that the people responsible might be much closer to home….

This drama is starting to interest me. I really like Ninomiya as an actor and I think Nishikido is adorable so I won’t mind watching him (unless he sucks). Looking forward to this drama to start airing this October on Fridays at 10pm on TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting Station).

  1. Speaking of Nishikido, have you seen “Last Friends” yet?

Nope, I should watch that but I heard it was depressing and I’m watching very nice, non-depressing Korean dramas at the moment lol

  3. It is VERY depressing….I couldn’t put myself through it. I like happy stories :P

Anyhow, I’m terribly outdated when it comes to jdrama compared to kdrama so thanks for the update. Actually sounds interesting……usually I have an affinity for korean series over japanese series but will check this one when it comes out.

  4. The problem is not all johnnies can act.
Nino-chan and Kimutaku are most likely the most talented ones.
Erika Toda just annoys me and Ryo well he is okay in last friends but Juri Ueno was absolutely phenomenal.
But I have faith in Nino being excellent.
It is scary how J-jimusho is controlling so many things including the guys personal lives.

  5. this is a very good news.,. but i’m kinda hoping that i could watch another ninomiya drama.. since i haven’t watch the ‘marathon’.. this time i was kinda hoping that i could watch this..

    thanks for the wonderful information..:)

Hey, what do u mean by saying Ryo’s suck?
Anyway, Ryo can act well too

  7. I’ve been a big fan of KimuTaku ever since I was little but he’s the Japanese version of Julia Roberts– he basically plays himself and all of his roles are interchangeable. That being said, he does have undeniable charisma and stage presence and his acting has improved over time. I was pretty excited to see him in 2046 because I am a huge fan of WKW.

I actually think JE has a bunch of “talents” that can’t be written off. For instance, Matsujun of Arashi is pretty versatile as a comedic actor. Nino def. shows the most potential of all the JE boys. I really don’t understand the fuss surrounding Nishikiddo Ryo– I saw Last Friends and I found his acting to be pretty painful. Actually, that entire show was painful to watch. Same goes for dead fish eyes Yamapi. I do like Tackey, however; he’s not the best actor but he has stage presence and he always does a good job in whatever role he plays.
