Feist at Prospect Park
Sorry for my days of absence, I couldn’t have imagined that I’d actually be busy this summer.
But to the main topic, I went to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park to see Feist perform and she was AWESOME. I only knew her song 1234 because of the ipod commercial but all of her music was great and much more upbeat than I expected.
Fiest’s music is a mix of folk rock, rock, jazz, and acoustic. I was surprised at how strong her drums were and I was also happy to hear that she sounds amazing live. I think the reason why I couldn’t write in this blog was because I didn’t to return to the world of female singers that gyrate on stage and lipsynch. -_-
Anyway, her performance was very cinematic and theatrical. There was a projector used to project images onto a screen in the back that would correlate with the song she was singing (or were just really pretty). Below is the main pianist and in the background, projected on the screen, are silhouettes of women’s legs marching.
Her musicians were awesome, especially her guitar player. And Feist on guitar is great, she is such a rock star but so chill and funny. She was making jokes the entire time. She made the entire audience laugh, which was good because mostly everyone was soaking wet from the rain. Thankfully, I was right in front of the stage and was saved from the downpour.
The show started off with this image on the back screen.
And then Feist comes out holding a lantern and crouching down. It was so cute, she was wearing this white dress with black tassels coming down (so it was kind of flapper-ish), awesome Victorian white lace up booties and a white fedora. She then went behind the screen and sang a song.
Throughout the entire performance there were two girls at a table in the back doing art and things that were being projected. The drew in paint, they showed silhouettes of houses and did a bunch of other stuff. I would have taken more pictures but I didn’t want to miss the experience by trying to remember it while I was there. Know what I mean?
Anyway, here are some more pictures I took. Enjoy and you should definitely look into Feist’s music.
There was a disco ball. (that bright thing in the top left).
In the background, if you can see it, the screen is projecting a video (live feed) of the inside of the piano as the guitar player plays it.
