“Blood: The Last Vampire” Finally Picked Up for US Distribution

So Gianna Jun’s Hollywood debut is finally a real hollywood debut

Blood: The Last Vampire has been picked up by Universal Studios for distribution in the United States, Central and South America and Canada.

Look for Blood in theaters sometime this fall/winter season. Jun will being a promotional tour this July (so says her agency SidusHQ). Jun will no doubt be recognized after a little bit of research as she’s been in two Korean films remade by American production companies (Il Mare into The Lake House and My Sassy Girl into My Sassy Girl).

What do you think of Gianna Jun’s debut? (And who else thinks her English name is kind of lame?)

    No overwhelming sentiments. I’m taking a “just wait and see” approach…

    She looks feisty in this screencap! I’m mildly looking forward to this…too bad I have a tendency to bootleg videos rather than go to theaters. It’s going to have to take some really good reviews for me to pay for a ticket :P

    But I do rather like her….she doesn’t overact or worry too much about being pretty on screen all the time I think :) I don’t want to be too superficial but I dunno how much this chick will appeal lookwise to American audiences. I feel like Hollywood tends to favor the extreme Asian look: small, delicate, willow-y, and a bit more on the slanty eye side than JJH is if that makes any sense ^^;;

    In a way I always thought Saya would look more petite and fragile.
    A little bit like Horikita Maki maybe.
    But Jun Ji Huyn looks more like a model.
    I liked her in my sassy girl but to me she does not look like Saya.
    But I’ll wait and see the movie still.

    Hmmmm, I don’t know how much this will really appeal to the American audience but I guess we’ll wait and see?? There’s no big namers in this film… I doubt it will be a huge hit.
