Big Bang’s “With U” Mini Album
I prefer them in Korean and it has nothing to do with accents.
The lyrics just suck. If they were an English group and they sang with those lyrics I would think the same thing. It’s so riddled with all the overused hip-hop catch phrases and terminology that I hate. Most of the songs are remakes so they have a better Korean version and the songs that aren’t remakes aren’t that mind-blowing. (Though I like With U, as many have mentioned before it’s generic for Big Bang. They can do so much better). They remade Babo into Mad About You, Oh my, that is not nice. I LOVE Babo and I thought the remake was just okay. They also remade Last Farewell and This Love into songs that are inferior to their originals. I don’t blame the boys, they hardly even know what they’re saying but I know YG can dig up better English lyricists.
Through all this I keep in mind that this is for an audience who presumably has never heard their Korean music and who mostly don’t understand English either, so they may not be as jarred by this album. But even as an album there is no flow or art to how it’s mixed. Bah humbug, I’ll just wait patiently for their next Korean single. (You know, the one that YG says will far surpass Lies and Last Farewell.
At the end of the day, the mini-album is alright. Certainly not worth 22 dollars though.
*Disclaimer: I know a lot of people loved this album so just keep in mind that this is my opinion… you know, one of the things that differentiate us from each other? Okay.*

If I was in my right mind, I would be the same way XD But I am a mindless fangirl lol. I am also the type to push aside the bad and find something I like. I really think these songs are RIDICULOUS, but they are still fun in a way. Plus, there is nothing like exploring the lyrics. It’s kind of like an acid trip (or as I would imagine an acid trip lol).

I love it when a fan can give an objective (or at least reasonable) critique of an artist they like, even if it’s a “bad” one. I’m with you (no pun intended); I’m not all that impressed with this album quite honestly. I would choose their Korean music over this any day. I don’t necessarily blame them though because, like you said, they aren’t fluent enough to translate their music into English. If anything, this makes me anticipate their next Korean single/album even more. Always and Hot Issue are always playing in my iPod

Dude, Hot Issue is SUCH a good minialbum, I lke every single song on that mini-album. It’s one of those albums that you can listen to all the way through without skipping songs.

i agree.. all of their english songs are inferior to the korean ones.. how gee, together forever, and now these.. the lyrics dont give the same meaning as the koeran lyrics (not that i understand them) and theyre commonly used phrases.. also, they americanized the lyrics. music here in the US (not all but a lot) is just about sex and drugs and stuff like that.. and when big bang released their american songs (for example together forever) they put in sexual meaning .. which is really messed up. i’ll be waiting for the next korean album though.. big bang <3

well.. as for me… I’ve been following news about the group in from their debut album… Hmmm.. I can say that they boys should really stick with Korean language.. find a better lyricist? that’s a very good idea… we can’t just translate Korean songs into English right away, right? like what happen to Fool… (T_T)

I love Big Bang and all, but while listening to “With U” - I always cringe at Daesung’s part. He needs more practice with the english pronounciation the most.

i agree, the korean ver. of last farewell was wayyyy betta, i couldnt even understand half of what they were singing (i onli got the parts where they sung slower, not in rap) but still, i prefer the singin in korean
but always in english is good, preferably betta than the korean version, but its my opinion ^^
