SNSD Lying About Their Age?

Posted in Music, Seoul with tags , on April 27, 2008 by illdielaughing

I’ve thought really hard about posting this in lieu of the whole Hee Chul-Nose Job “drama”. But I decided to post it with this disclaimer: I won’t say that this is 100% true, I’m just presenting my “evidence” and asking you what you think. (I’ll say it now if this post becomes a  problem I’m deleting it) Read more »

Usually when I post a video that takes place in an airport our favorites singers or actors are getting pummeled by their rabid fans. But this one is a little different and this one takes the cake.

Watch it twice. Make sure you catch the little kid.

Rain and Colbert: Free Publicity

Posted in NYC, TV, ^_^ with tags , on April 25, 2008 by illdielaughing

Amy, thank you for making my day once again by pointing this video out to me.

I love that Rain really has to do nothing for publicity. He’s also doing an interview with Popseoul!, being on The Colbert Report gets him a completely different and wider audience than doing an interview with Popseoul! but this kid is covering all his bases. Read more »

Win Free Super Junior M Stuff from Popfestfast!

Posted in Seoul, ^_^ with tags , on April 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

Amy, over at Popfestfast! is holding an awesome contest for lovers of Super Junior M. You get the chance to win Taiwanese or Hong Kong version of Super Junior M’s debut album Me

The contest is simple: Give me an honest review of what you thought of the album. You can give me a track by track review, a general review, or express your thoughts through whatever other medium you choose. I say “honest” because unless you really did love every single track thoroughly, you won’t necessarily be earning points with me by gushing endlessly about everything. (But, if you also have nothing good to say about any of the songs, why would you want the album? ;D) All entries due by May 11!

More details over at Popfestfast!

The picture says it all…

Changmin is too sexy for this airport.
I love the Diva face.

Hee Chul and his Nose *sigh*

Posted in Uncategorized on April 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

EDIT: Just realized that when you search “‘Hee Chul’ Nose Job”, the first page of results is linked to that post I wrote. And I’m so badly misquoted it’s frustrating.

I was misquoted over on Asianfanatics and the soompi forums and the comments there, near the tail end, all basically say: this is untrue, this was originally posted by Popseoul! and they hate SuJu, NYCST is another blog to the add to the ignore list etc. etc.

My final say on the matter is this: I got this news from Soompi. Hee Chul on his minihompy even explained his falling down (and for some reason decided to take pictures of his bleeding nose (is this evidence or something?) There has been no mention of Hee Chul getting plastic surgery to fix his nose. I hate to spread rumors so I don’t want people to be misled by my other post. Hee Chul has not confirmed getting rhinoplasty it just seemed like he did because his nose looks rather different. (Which would be the result of….)

I hate having to backtrack on what I say on this blog. It’s actually alarming when I have to. I really don’t want random people to get worked up about something I wrote in between eating breakfast and filming something for homework.

But I want to say sorry, I think an E.L.F. has died somewhere because of my previous post. I apologize, now everyone quick, before more ELF’s die–”I do believe in ELFs! I do! I do!”

The Dong Bang Boys Have Lost Some Braincells

Posted in Tokyo with tags on April 24, 2008 by illdielaughing

These guys have definitely gotten into their comfort zone in Japan, which is nice to see. No more Tetsuko’s Room type awkwardness.

mickytoho

I say they’ve lost some braincells because they’re being so weird.

Changmin looks like such a New York Yuppy in that outfit. It’s great. Junsu somehow fought the urge to thank his fans with an oyaji gag, Jae Joong still has really weird and unfunny responses to things (I laughed anyway), Yoochun is adorable and Yunho… Is it just me or is Yunho becoming less and less attractive? This is most likely just me but Yunho used to be one of my favorite members and now he’s moved down the ranks to my least favorite.

Anyway, that was a clip from DBSK on Ontama, they’ll be on all week!

It’s the 21st Century so What’s Your Excuse?

Posted in Seoul with tags , , on April 22, 2008 by illdielaughing

Doing my normal blog roaming when I see something very interesting over at Popseoul:

Park Jin-hee was featured in a new CF for Coreana’s Nokdu bean serum where she is wearing a military cap stamped with a swastika-gripping eagle Nazi insignia. According to AP news:

The version shown in previews contained the slogan:”Even Hitler didn’t have the East and West.” Korad, the Seoul-based agency that produced the ad, said it believed a Nazi soldier and Hitler symbolized “revolution” in keeping with the lotion’s “revolutionary” moisturizing and calming effects. It said the reference to the East and West emphasized the product’s dual functions.”

… How can you NOT know that using Hitler and Nazism is NOT a good way to market your products?

Nazism represents revolution? Is this some kind of twisted joke? There is no way that you could research Nazism and Hitler and not get something that tells you that “revolution” is the last thing from people’s minds when they think of either.

This reminds me of an article I read yesterday about “The Bubble Sisters”. In 2003 they dressed up in what was basically ridiculous black-face and sang It’s Raining Men. Once again, how can they NOT know that that is extremely offensive? Apparently, a half-Black, half-Korean singer in the same company told them the horrible history behind black-face and why it was so offensive but they didn’t care because: 1) Black people are not regarded very highly in Korea, 2) There aren’t many Black people in Korea that would complain.

I was really offended by the black-face nonsense and I’m also offended by the use of Hitler and Nazism to try to market your products. I can’t imagine how a Jewish ex-patriate living in Korea would feel watching that commercial come on television.

I know that it’s two completely different worlds, the east and the west, and we may not understand each other completely but this is just a lack of basic research and an insensitivity to people they must have known MIGHT get offended. There is no good reason for either of these instances. Of course, after complaining, The Bubble Sisters act was pulled and they apologized. And the people behind Coreana have apologized to the Israeli Embassy and changed the offensive ads so that they now say, “No one was able to conquer east and west”.

Well, no one has realized that there is not a concrete wall between the east and the west. We can see each other, whether its The Bubble Sisters in black-face or Mickey Rooney pretending to be Japanese, people get offended, people get hurt.

yuyukj

… The most amusing (though a tad saddening) thing about this video is the fact that their are two random black guys in the background “dancing” and the guys are dancing to Beyonce’s Crazy in Love… This is ridiculous.
