Gackt’s Hollywood “Debut”
I’m seriously beginning to loathe the phrase “Hollywood Debut”, it demands too much hype.
Gackt will be in the Josh Hartnett action-adventure filk, Bunraku. Hartnett is playing a nomad type person who wants revenge, and Gackt, his stereotypical Asian sidekick, is a samurai named Yoshi. *sigh* Hollywood you disappoint me with your lack of innovation.
The writer-director of the film is relatively (or really completely) unknown, Guy Moshe. Apparently he’s a good filmmaker, though he’s only made two other films. The most recent being a film exploring child slavery and sexploitation, Holly.
Bunraku has been filming in Romania since a couple of weeks ago. And I think all principal shooting is occurring there. I would love to know how a samurai fits into eastern Europe. I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough.
If you don’t know who Gackt is, he’s a Japanese singer, formerly with Malice Mizer. Check out his wiki. Gackt is a pretty funny, brutally honest guy. The funniest thing about him is that no one knows how old he is. He started his career in 1995 so maybe he’s at least 33? He was born on July 4th of some year, Gakct only knows which. He may have possibly been born in 1973.
Anyway, I’ve digressed. Back to the subject at hand, the movie Bunkaru is set to be released in 2009.
[PS: Finding a picture of Gackt in which he does not look like a woman or vampire is rather difficult. But I swear he's rather attractive.]

Ooooh, I love Gackt! And yes, in most pictures he tends to look…weird maybe lol. I think he’s gorgeous though and I love his music. If this comes out in Australian cinema’s, then I’m definately going to watch it!
Yes, I’m also getting tired of this Hollywood debut epidemic xD Rain…Se7en…those other Korean artists from the Hallyu wave whom I’ve already forgotten xD
But this is the first I’ve heard of a Japanese celeb…hmmm

EHheh…gackt, i remember thinking he looked like a anime character come to life 10 years ago…and he still does ^^;; That man is bloody AGELESS! Be it photoshop, Botox or some crazy “vampire” powers…it’s working
I wonder what his look will be for the movie~ I feel like Hollywood is not up for the slightly girl-y (or VERY girly) look Asian fan girls favor….watching him man it up will be interesting >_>

Gackt seriously is ageless, it’s crazy. But Asians tend to age really well so it must be his good genes.
I’ve never seen a great picture of him either but I saw him a couple of times on Shin Doumoto Kyoudai and he was really cute. ^^

WTF, “YOSHI?” That is so sad. With all of Gackt’s popularity in the East (and significant popularity in the West; I mean, compared to some Asian artists), it’s horrible that he gets stuck with this kind of role. Hopefully he’ll be able to break free from it.

gackt can dance with 2 girls at the same time…..i saw him myself on the set in Buftea…and i believe he is srteight…he likes gai jin girls very much…especially blue eyed girls…and he moves his butt in an incredible mode…awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

He’s great….
