… なぜよ？！
Why oh why? I couldn’t finish the first season of Gokusen. Mostly because the same thing happened every. single. episode. I’m sure someone else besides me noticed right? I know there are tons of Gokusen lovers out there, and I understand why. The episodes that I could get through were hilarious….but I need more than that for me to enjoy and finish watching 9 hours of a drama.
Nakama Yukie is coming back again as the homeroom teacher, Yankumi. The boys from 3D include idol stars Nakama Junta and Kiriyama Akita of B.A.D., Takaki Yuya of Hey! Say! Jump (playing the male lead) and Huruma Miura , Miura Shohei and Ishiguro Hideo .
The third season of the drama starts in April of this year.

Well it was a couple of days ago. I was way to busy to write a birthday post but I found this in the news and I think it’s funny/annoying/ellipsis inducing.

TVXQ member U-Know, who celebrated his 22nd birthday on February 6, refused the expensive gifts (computer, laptop, synthesizer, digital cameras etc.) his fans sent him.
According to U-Know, he was impressed at his fans’ sincerity and was happy to feel how much they love him. However, he feels that if the gifts were just given to less fortunate people, the gifts would be of more value.
U-Know’s fan club understood his good intentions and will just donate them to those in need.
I will never understand why fans will spend so much money giving expensive gifts like computers and laptops to people they don’t know. I can understand sending something like a card you made or a spoof video you made but a digital camera? Obviously he can buy the damn thing himself and he probably already has all these things. It’s so ridiculous that I really don’t even know how to pinpoint exactly what’s ridiculous about it.
You should give laptops and cameras to people you know, people that need them, not to an idol star who really just wants you to buy his albums, dvds, merchandise and maybe crowd around him at the airport.
I really don’t think this makes any sense and Yunho was right to reject the gifts but maybe there’s some fan/idol star relationship thing I’m not quite understanding.

I go to film school and I have a two hour lecture every tuesday. Today, much to my surprise, we spent the whole class watching commercials including the Thai commercial for Smooth E Baby Face Foam. The commercial was aired in four parts breaking down the story of a tomboyish girl. I’d tell you what it’s about but you should just watch. It’s hilarious.
It’s twelve minutes long but don’t get discourage by the length, watch the video and tell me what you think!

The Good:
1. Xiah Junsu… *sigh* his voice hardly disappoints me.
2. After the rap Jae Joong redeems himself by singing from his diaphragm. Yay!
3. Changmin ad libbing always makes my day. (”Hey Girl” etc.)
4. They are soooo sexed up in this video it’s ridiculous. But in an oh-so-good way. 5. This live is going to be blow your mind amazing. Can’t wait. Hurry up and tour!

There is news of an audition happening in the beginning of March for those who think they have what it takes to be world stars (and are willing to have no artistic control over your work). The JYP Auditions will be hitting New York on March 9th and LA on March 15th. I love how JYP is so obviously economizing.
He had all the information on his Myspace page. Which, may I point out, made this typo. (Look Below).
Haha moving beyond the running joke that the Wonder Girls is becoming, I will certainly be at the auditions (not trying out, emotional support like last time) and I will tell you everything you would ever want to know about a JYP audition. But it’s in a month so you’ll have to wait until then for the inside scoop. OR you can audition yourself and see if you make it to the top!
I’m trying to find an English source for this but I keep getting redirected to his Daum account and it’s all in Korean. Here’s the flyer with the most info I could find. I’ll update about this more later. Click to get the full image!

February 29thth JYP is holding his first “The JYP Tour” concert. Him and his peeps (Wonder Girls, J. Lim, Min and G-soul) will all join him as he shamelessly plugs them into his concert.
Shh… I’m trying to sing over my loud clothing.
The first stop is in NYC at the WaMu theater, the smaller venue at Madison Square Garden. If you’re in the city you can drop $150 for a ticket in the Moshpit. In my opinion if you go to a concert you have to be in the moshpit for the full experience. Getting the wave of music first, feeling the bass of the music strongest, getting sprayed with the singers sweat… Ahh….there’s nothing like it. But I do understand getting cheap tickets. I’ve been lucky enough to always be able to be in the pit at all the concerts I’ve been to. (Granted I’ve only been to about 3).
I’m still thinking about whether or not to go to this concert. I’m waiting to know if Big Bang is really coming to the city. But I figure they’re not coming until October. (That was when the YG family concert was in the city two years ago). So should I save my money just in case a better concert happens or should I go see JYP? Well, I feel like if I walk around Korea Town the night before the concert I’ll see JYP and his posse in Dae Dong Dae Dong or something. (Note: Dae Dong is a restaurant in Koreatown that I keep calling Dae Dong Dae Dong).

Because Cassiopeia has beat them as the world’s largest fan club for a musical group. What the @#$%? Yea, don’t get mad E.L.F. members, just live with the defeat. (And really you shouldn’t measure the quality of you’re lives this way.)
Anyway, it’s cool that Dong Bang Shin Ki has the biggest fan club at 800,000 members. But…if you compare that to album sales…. you fans are lacking aren’t you?
Well, Congratulations to the Dong Bang boys, hope they sell more albums and have less hypocritical fans.
I really didn’t mean for the tone of this post to be so sardonic. It should be happier, no?

You may have heard about the scandal going on with Edison Chen and his ex-girlfriends. Pictures of him and Gillian and Bobo performing sexual acts and what not have been spreading around the net and the world. Edison has finally come forward with this monotone and robotic message urging people to delete the pictures and “help the wounded heal their wounds”. It’s in English too.
This message looks like a bad audition tape to be news anchor. Edison looks horrible and sick in this and I have no doubt that it reflects how he feels inside. Whether or not the pictures are real or fake it’s pretty shitty to have your dirty laundry aired out all over the internet. But Edison could have done a better job at making us feel sorry for him, maybe try to look alive? Granted he does look on the verge of death but I don’t really see the sincerity in what he’s saying.

Angelina Jolie. James McAvoy. Need I say anything else? Okay, Morgan Freeman.
Wanted is about a bunch of assassins shooting stuff up. If you look at the trailer you’ll see what it’s actually about. I don’t need to explain do I? Look at the ridiculousness of the special effects and stunts in the trailer. Oh my goodness, I am beyond excited for this. It looks like the return of the good balls out action movie. Yay!

Watch this performance of Wonder Girls singing Aretha Franklin’s Chain of Fools.
Thanks to Akon, who commented in my Ee Babo post and brought this vid to my attention.
I’m not at all surprised that JYP chose this kind of song for his group to sing. His work has always been influenced to different degrees by soulful and jazzy music. I have to say I am really impressed with Sun Ye and Ye Eun in this performance. If I expected anything from So Hee I would have been disappointed but I’m way beyond that. Anyway, I found this refreshing. Hearing the soulful potential in Sun Ye and Ye Eun’s voices was really nice. And Sun Mi, the other girl, she’s not too bad either. But it’s average and this performance is far from perfect. Ye Eun thinks she can sing better than she actually can, but in some time and with some proper training (*cough JYP *cough*) she will have a much better voice. In the end though, this performance just ended up sounding and looking like really good karaoke.
But did I mention it was refreshing? I mean, singing Aretha Franklin is a big deal but in Korea I don’t think they had that feeling. If they had performed that in America there would be a lot more pressure to do well. In fact, I don’t even think JYP would be naive enough to let them perform that song here because no matter what they would be compared to Aretha and… I mean even really good singers can’t live up to her. But digression aside, 3 of the 5 Wonder Girls are proving their talents, 1 of the 5 is still treading in the cesspool of mediocrity and the last is just . . .
