Clazziquai’s Robotica
I bought two awesome cd’s yesterday and I’m just dying to talk about them, Big Bang’s Hot Issue Mini Album and Clazziquai’s Robotica remix album 3.5.
Clazziquai’s Robotica is mostly remixes of their songs but the first six tracks are completely new which is why they call it album number 3.5. Freedom (Sung by Christina), Iconic Love (Sung by Yi Sung Yol and DJ Clazziquai(!), Robotica, You, Why (Sung by Whale), and beautiful stranger (Sung by Christina) are followed by the remixes, Love Mode (Hwa Remix), Prayers (Shinichi Osawa Remix; Sung by Christina), Our Lives (FPM Hyper Society Mix), Fiesta (Daishi Dance Remix), Lover Boy (As Pap As Pop Mix), Next Love (DJ Kayip Remix and Sung by Christina), Love Mode (pzq mode).
I’m very happy with this album especially because I wasn’t too fond of Clazziquai’s Love Child of the Century. I like their early stuff alot and this remix album, though not like old Clazziquai, was really fresh and enjoyable.
Once again, DJ Clazzi is being a musical genius, Alex is being an amazing singer, and Horan’s functional vocals are lulling the listener into a electronic daze. Christina makes a little comeback on this album which makes me happy because though I’m not crazy about her or Horan’s voices I think Christina sings songs that suit the voice that she has.
Favorite Tracks:
Freedom: Sung by Christina the song is really funky, almost too much so but it gets you bopping. Though the lyrics don’t make sense all together: “Going on to the feel the freedom” “Whose that boy by the river” and “This is when I touch you” don’t really seem like lyrics from the same song but Clazziquai makes it work.
Fiesta: The addicting, sway-inducing melody did it for me. When the beat first kicked in I was getting tired of the extremely house-y feel of it but then Horan started singing and I got into it. I like the message of the song too, which I think is just, go have fun, live your life.
Love Mode (pzq mode)- I know their have been a few remixes of this song and this one happens to be my favorite. I love the horns and the piano in it, the jazzy drums and the lyrics make the song a great listen. And it’s much less boring than the pinch your soul version.
Robotica: Sung by Alex and Horan, the song is so Clazzi I really don’t know what to say. Alex starts the song with his oh-so-lovely deep vocals and Horan comes in with the fantastic harmonizing. The song is very Studio 54 70’s with a Clazzi twist which is what I like about it. I had my doubts about the song at first, but I quickly forget them when Alex starts singing.

Love Clazziquai’s crazy music videos. The cat at 1:09 ish is great. But Choom is still my favorite Clazziquai music video.

Alex and the sunglasses. Adorable.
Honorable Mention:
beautiful stranger: Though not one of my favorites it deserves honorable mention. This song starts off pretty nice and almost slips into the bad nineties realm of music but I listened to it all and I like it. Christina is back at mic and DJ Clazziquai slowly trips you into the music with his synthesizer mastery (haha).
Prayers: I really don’t like the original version of this song at all but the beat in this was really nice. It’s really house-y but it doesn’t overwhelm because it’s a bit hip hop-y as well. I don’t know if that really explains the song to it’s justice but oh well, it’s in my honorable mention.
Honestly, all the song are really good. The only flaw in this album is the lack of bossa nova and lounge tracks like Choom and Novabossa. But this might explain why this album is called Robotica, the theme is definitely consistent throughout. But I have to give this remix album 4/5 stars.
