Final Fantasy XIII

 final_fantasy_xiii_logo.jpg

I am a geek when it comes to video games. I haven’t played any in the past few months (college). But back in the good ole days of middle school and high school when I had alot more free time, I was a Final Fantasy GEEK (I’ve never finished any of the games though haha). I own Final Fantasy VII, X, X-2 and XII and now that there is a thirteenth I will certainly get that. The only sucky part is that it’s being released on the the ridiculously expensive platform, PS3 and not PS2. I’m a Playstation groupie and I would love to buy PS3. But seriously, 400 dollars… I can buy SO much food that…

The lead character is a woman (W0ot Wo0t!) and the character designer, Tetsuya Nomura, was told to create a femal version of Cloud from Final Fantasy VII. And because Cloud kicks asss she will be awesome. So being the female Cloud, her name is Lightning (she’s forgotten her real name due to amnesia) and she looks as if she can kick ass, just from this one picture. I love her character already.lighteningff13Pic got cut off click for bigger size.

The only other character revealed is a mysterious guy that is only known by his shoe size, which is 33cm (Which I believe is a US 12 or 13). He and the main character have a “unique” relationship.

From Final Fantasy XII.net:

Final Fantasy XIII is set in a futuristic world controlling advanced technology and magical crystals. Pulse, the world Final Fantasy XIII is based on has had an evil history which has resulted in the construction of the floating utopian city called Cocoon. The citizens of Cocoon fear the world below. Lightning, the heroine of the game is seen fighting soldiers in Cocoon in the E3 2006 trailer but we aren’t sure why. All we know about her is her codename and the fact that she has amnesia.

To be honest it sounds at the same time lame and freaking awesome, like this game’s plot can only be amazing or ridiculous. Check out the trailer:

FF XIII is the main game for the FF XIII series Fabula Nova Crystalis (New Tale of the Crystal) which includes, Final Fantasy Versus XIII (for PS3)and Final Fantasy XIII Agito (for mobile phones…so who cares). All games take place in the same futuristic world but the story lines have nothing to do with each other. Completely different storyline and characters but, ”when coupled with FINAL FANTASY XIII, FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII completes the core of the FABULA NOVA CRYSTALLIS Project.”

On Final Fantasy versus XIII:
Final Fantasy Versus XIII is set in a place more closely resembling our modern day world. The city in the trailers we have seen so far have actually been designed based on modern day cities in Japan. This world is caught in a Cold War between two great nations with our un-named protagonist on one side. He is the last remaining member of a royal family which controls the last crystal in existance.

Trailer for Final Fantasy Versus XIII:

I am having fan girl spasms right now, I am SOOO excited. I love the Final Fantasy series dearly. There is just so much to love. The GRAPHICS, the characters, the storylines, the MUSIC and everything is just awesome. At least for the games I have. So I am so excited for this new game.

  1. Zomg. *droolage* *spazzage*

I’m a total video game geek myself. Especially when it comes to good RPGs. Final Fantasy games are on a completely different level of awesomeness than any other out there. The storylines ( Final Fantasy VII – ’nuff said. *drools* ) get you so into the games that you don’t even realize the time passing by. XD

I’m so pshyched that Tetsuya is on the staff, yet again. His work is always amazing. A-Ma-Zing. ^.^ A female version of Cloud? Woooot! And is it just me, or is the lead in FFXIII Versus giving off just a slight vibe of Vincent-awesomeness? ^^”

The only reason I haven’t already bought a PS3 is because I’m waiting for FFXIII and Versus. And kind of hoping they come out with a special edition PS3…kind of like they did with Daxter and Star Wars for PSP…. XDDD

*sigh* Ever since I’ve first heard about FFXIII last year…I’ve been freakin’ out. Finally! A female lead! *cheers* And still…such a long wait ahead. ><”

    …Keep sharing, ne? ^^ *spazz*

OMG I love you for geeking in your comment lol,
I’m actually in the process of rebuying X-2 because it got stolen and I really want to replay it (maybe finish it…?) haha

Yeah I’m pretty excited for the two games with two different story lines in the same world concept because both seem awesome.

  3. Hahaha. You’re welcome. The geeky-ness must be shared! ^^

Ack! You really want to rebuy X-2? Ouch. I borrowed it from a friend when it first came out because I had my doubts and….sure enough, I was sorely disappointed.
    …Maybe I just didn’t ‘get’ it? XDD

I’m sad about one thing concerning the two new FF games…whether or not Nobuo Uematsu, that mastermind composer, will be behind the soundtracks this time around. I had heard he had resigned from SquareEnix. I’m sure the games will be wonderful but…Nobuo is so gifted, I just know the scenes would feel that much more intense if he composed the music behind it. ^^”

I like FF X-2. It was fun and light hearted (and easy *cough cough*) The story line is nice too, though light hearted it’s political (and tidus in the end .~_~.) But it certainly wasn’t as good as the other games of the final fantasy series but I heard it was MUCH better than dirge of cerberus
Nobuo Uematsu did resign which is sad
and did you know that Tetsuya Nomura didn’t do the character designs for FF XII, which to me explains why I hated the Vaan’s physical look. His clothes? I was like, “eh?” haha
prince of persia, have you ever played prince of persia?

  5. Of course, the graphics are to die for!

Haha how many Final Fantasy games are there going to be?

Its kinda ironic, considering the first one was supposed to be the last ._.

  6. illdielaughing Says:

haha yea but I have no idea how many games there will be, personally i hope that Final Fantasy is going to be like James Bond–NEVER ENDING
that would make me so happy

  7. Lol at one point we’ll all get bored of it :O

But the avid gamers will always come back ^^

  8. illdielaughing Says:

bored of final fantasy *gasp* never!
(except I’ve never finished any of the games lol
    I’m working on twelve though.

  9. Truthfully Ive only played the spinoffs, like Tactics and Crystal Chronicals.

Didnt last through one and two lol

  10. Sad. I shall never believe that tiring of Final Fantasy games can ever be achieved. ><”
