Shun Oguri will star in Binbou Danshi.
It is a drama about a “poor but optimistic” college student that drives himself into debt by taking responsibility for other people’s debts. The series follows him going through many comical situtians to pay off these debts.
There isn’t much information on this show but I posted anyway because I really like Oguri. The show will air on the NTV network, Tuesdays at 10 pm, starting next January.

Korea’s number one Hallyu star, Rain, is in trouble with PETA Asia Pacific.
“You have said that you want to show American women `how sweet and loving Asian men are’. Correct us if we’re wrong, but wearing fur is anything but `sweet’ and there is no `loving’ way to rip the skin off a still-twitching animal. And although you have likened yourself to `SexyBack’ singer Justin Timberlake, you are anything but sexy for wearing the fur of tortured animals on your back.”
This is an exerpt from the letter to Rain from PETA Asia Pacific. As usual, there is a complete over exageration of the situation. And as usua,l PETA is targeting celebrities to publicly shame. I’m all for animal rights, I get a PETA newsletter everyweek but, frankly, I’m sick of organizations giving into celebrity journalism and targeting them to get their points across (which they aren’t doing very well). When they target people like Rain with such ridiculous comments such as what is written above, it only degrades themselves. To reference Justin Timberlake in any appeal to fur-wearers is ludicrous.
This is a pretty bad theme with formerly credible organizations. Now they’re producing more contrived silliness and, to be honest, propoganda. What people want is truth and the general public isn’t going to respond positively to drama. I completely understand PETA’s point however, since Rain is a public figure they don’t want him to give the impression that it is okay to wear fur. But if he wants to wear fur that’s on him. I don’t think it’s okay to bother people just because they are in the public eye, the people they should be talking to are politicians. People forget that they are the ones that have the important influence on our lives.

This show was kind of a mess, lots of bad planning, cancelations and lack of actual celebrities. But here are som clips from the show.
MKMF Host Lee Da Hae’s cover of I Love Rock and Roll:
I’m amazed that she could actually make ths song boring.
I have high standards when it comes to people performing live and this was just bad. Bad in the way that it wasn’t horrible but painfully mediocre. Everyone just looked so half-assed it’s amazing.
But Lee Da Hae looked as if she was having fun and she did seem to have the crowd excited but some celebrities there looked less than impressed. Lee Seung Gi looked like he was about to fall asleep.
The Battle of Princess (Ah there ges the bad English again):
First of all, what in the hell was Kara wearing?
Second of all, who in the hell did Black Pearl’s hair? (And weren’t they supposed to be dancing?)
Third of all, Girl’s Generation can’t dance.
Fourth of all… well nothing’s really bad about Wonder Girls.
Lastly, why in the hell do all these girls have to dance up on some guy? (This Guy is Kim Beom from High Kick).
Wonder Girls definetly won this one.
JYP at MKMF
Of Course, the first shot is of his stomach. And then he promotes himself and all the work he’s done in the US… Anyway, it was cute to see his girls (Wonder Girls) cheering for him, and everyone else really excited about his performance. I also think it’s hilarious that there are no Korean musicians. All black and white, American I’m assuming.
Seeing how excited Clazziquai was made me so happy.
Kara at 2:55 is thinking, “I wish he would manage us.”
I love how Wonder Girls came up and sang with him…too cute. But it’s JYP’s comeback so… stop plugging Wonder Girls in.
SIDE NOTE: JYP was supposed to perform with Lee Min Woo but he didn’t attend because of what him and his management saw as the unfairness of the awards. I don’t think that’s a reason to drop out of awards but I do believe that MKMF is an example of those crappy award shows that is easily influenced by money from, say, gangsters.
JYP performing 니가사는그집 and KISS at MKMF:
For a comeback it’s a bit underwhelming. That dance solo at the end was… not that great
God that falsetto kills me. It kills me almost as much as those pants he’s wearing. And that shirt, he knows he’s too old to be wearing shirts like that. Also, I think he may have picked that up off of the womans rack…
And then near the end the badly dressed hookers come out. Come on, JYP, it’s your comeback, give us something new.
Girls Generation and The Grace:
Hyo Yeon from Girls Generation is pretty good.
I wonder if Girls Generation knows they make bad music. And Also, I think it’s just unfair to Girls Generation to follow them with The Grace. The Grace completely showed them up.
Super Junior Performing 갈증, think:
Wow, I wish they would stop lipsynching, maybe more people would take them seriously.
Why would they give Super Junior back up dancers? That’s just stage clutter, a fire hazard, if you will.
Fun performance though, but still, best singer award? Ironic to give that award to a group that lipsynchs at the award ceremony.
Is it just me or did MKMF use an inordinate amount of pyrotechnics?

JYP… What’s going on here?
The Mnet KM Music Festival was on November 17. (I thought it was on teh twelfth but shh…) Lee Da Hae performed her cover of I Love Rock and Roll. Big Bang won best song for “Lie”. SG Wannabe won the R&B Soul Award. Super Junior won Best Mobile Song, Netizen Award (of course) and… Best Singer. I would really love to know who votes for these awards because it is obvious that Super Junior does not sing well enough to win best singer.
Clazziquai won for best House and Electric— Now, I love Clazziquai and they deserve to win because they are amazing but, who the hell else was in this category?
Many other people won and you can check that out at Popseoul! but honestly the MNet KM Music Festival is like the MTV VIdeo Music Awards. Neither of these shows give out awards based on actual talent. So many bad idol stars won awards and a handful of actual talented people got awards.
The Forbidden Kingdom is a new action film coming out next April 18th.
Things that I find interesting about this movie:
1. The Cast: Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Michael Angarano (yes, the kid from Sky High
2. There’s an American kid in the movie…
3. I thought Jet Lit retired…
4. It’s directed by Rob Minkoff
When I heard about this film I thought it was another martial arts movie from China BUT it’s an action/fantasy film from Hollywood.
The movie is like The Kid from King Arthur’s Court but…in Ancient China.
I literally have shivers going up my spine after watching this amazing girl sing.
This girl is Charice Pempengco a 14 year-old Filipina singer. Born in May of 1993, she’s been in the spot light for a long time. Since she was twelve I believe and as the next video says she has already signed a record deal. Her stage presence is phenominal and she is one of those singers who knows how to work a mic and who can control her voice like no other. If you want more information about her got to her website chariceonline.com. the website is extremely pink, it borders on disturbing, but it is a 14 year old girls homepage.
The Daily10 video: (HORRIBLE Quality)
The Daily10 Video: (Really Bad Sound)
The Daily10 did not do their research. Her last name is Pempengco and she’s 14 in the states, not 15. On another note, isn’t it great to see Star King on TV in the US. And also, Haha’s closeups… So funny.
Number in Korea’s Box office is Sik-Gaek or Le grand Chef a movie that’s gotten alot of buzz over the past several weeks. The movie is about a cooking competition to win a knife with alot of history and alot of personal feelings attached to it.
Number 2 is Lust, Caution (yay!) and 3 is a movie I haven’t heard of called Balegue Salja or Going by the Book. It’s about a “naive traffic cop” that has to infilitrate a group of robbers that are responsible for a sting of robberies that’s been making the public panic. Lions for Lambs is number five, which makes me really happy, because anyone living in a democratic country needs to see that movie. Even though it’s about the United States, there are things that ring true and stay consistent with other democratic countries.
Goong Nyeo or Shadows in the Palace was number seven. This film is a historical, mystery drama set in, when else, the choseon dynasty. Trailer is pretty intense.
Kim Yun Jin’s new Korean film Seven Days. The Movie just came out on in Korea (November 14th) and Hollywood already wants to remake it. Admittedly the plot of the movie is very interesting. It is about a lawyer that, in order to save her kidnapped child, must prove the innocence of a man accused of murdering a college student.
I would love to see that and this would add to a long list of Korean remakes. Summit Entertainment bought the rights to the film. Erik Feig, the president of production at Summit Entertainment said they bought the rights because, “”Seven Days” begins with one of the strongest premises we have seen and keeps you on the edge of the seat until one of the best twist endings. It is a non-stop thrill ride with a completely relatable story and hero and we cannot wait to make the Hollywood version”.
The remake is also going to start shooting in 2008. In Korea the original film is number 9 at the box Office.
The rights to The Host have also been bought. But I hope they don’t ruin that movie.

In the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, 4 of the 10 singles (including the number one spot) features T-Pain. Wow. I can’t stand T-Pain so I find that very interesting. I assume it’s because he is a gret producer, but I wish he would stop synthesizing his voice when he tries to sing. And I wish the subject matters of his songs would go beyond being “sprung” or being in love with a stripper… I was happy to see Colbie Caillat’s Bubbly in the top three because that song just screams “be happy!”

Hayden Paniettere has a warrant out for her arrest in Japan.
Why? you may ask. Well, she went to Teiji, Japan and participated in a demonstration to save dolphins…and the government didn’t like that too much.
Panettiere was part of a group who tried to prevent the slaughter of a group of whales and dolphins by fisherman near Taiji in southwestern Japan.
The group of activists was involved in a confrontation with the fishermen after they paddled on surfboards to try and reach a pod of dolphins before it was driven into a nearby cove and massacred.
Video footage of the clash shows the fisherman using the boat’s propellers to halt the surfers’ progress and even lashing out at them with a boat hook, eventually forcing them to return to shore.

A video about the Save the Dolphins Campaign
I think it’s very noble that all of these people want to do something about the dolphins in Teiji, but I thought it was kind of strange when the man said, “why isn’t the world doing something about this?” While there are wars and natural disasters that are killing thousands of people, I doubt they have much time to save dolphins. I see his point clearly though. It’s this apathy people have. Even with all the wars and natural disasters the apathy that you get from alot of people is astonishing, so I find it hard to see these people caring about dolphins.
