I have had an Epiphany.
Why Zhang Ri Yin can’t sing Timeless live…
Let me start this by saying, I love Zhang Li Yin and I think she is a great talent. She’s a nice change from the Lee Hyo Ri and “sexy diva” image singers.
Timeless Live…
Here’s why I think she can’t
When she sings Timeless with Junsu her voice has a completely different character than on the cd recording. I think that, since SM Entertainment sucks, they made her sing the song outside of her comfort zone and outside of her natural voice. When she’s performing live, she keeps doing what I call, the Christina Aguilera grunt but that just doesn’t work with this duet.
She also can’t do harmonies, thats a big one.
But the biggest thing is that she doesn’t have enough control over her beautiful voice. Without control you can sing like Xtina but you’ll sound like B.Spears.
SM Entertainment needs to make sure that their people can perform before they put them on stage because I’ve watched so many different live performance of Timeless and in all of them Zhang Ri Yin is cracking and her notes are SO off but you can tell she has such a beautiful voice.
HOWEVER
Listen to her seen Why live. Alot better but she still cracks and she’s off key at points. Magic Castle, the chinese remake afterward is also really good.
Let me end this by saying: I know that it’s hard to sing live but if you’re going to be a singer you need to be ready and you need to have you’re shit together. And you’re management company should…not suck.

or zhang li yin (chinese)
why do people tend to mix up the two?

Great stuff you have here. This is the first article I’ve come across where the writer is actually honest enough to say the truth. I’ve said the same and get annihilated at other places so I’m glad I found this. Zhang Riyin is not doubt talented but singing Timeless live where the original female vocals was done by POWERHOUSE Kelly Clarkson is almost asking for trouble! I’ll be checking back here soon..
